Hello, there and here I am again with some news for my readers. Probably one of the most used features of Windows is the Windows clipboard: the feature that allows you to copy and paste text, images, and files between different programs and folders. However, with all the use it gets, the clipboard can only hold item at a time.
Luckily, there are a lot of free clipboard managers that can significantly enhance the clipboard so that it can hold multiple items, change the formatting or case of text, let you search clips, create permanent clips, join two clips together, sync clipboards between computers, etc. In this article, I’m going to mention a couple of my favorite clipboard replacement utilities for Windows.
Best Free Clipboard Manager for Windows
To let you help more, these applications are reviewed and rated by online users and readers. So, there is no such issue whether you should put your trust in these Managers or not. It’s totally fine as far as I am concerned. However, if you have any doubt that needs further clearance, please let me know to help you out. Let us roll our mouse downward and find out more.
Clip Angel
If you are into copying all sorts of media and text frequently, Clip Angel is one of the recommended Clipboard Manager that can ease your work. It monitors your keyboard clipboard and keeps the history of all items you copy from folders, web pages, or text editors. Clip Angel further eases you as it creates small icons next to files icons to help you identify different file types.
Click an item entry, and it will tell you the source of the copied item. Double click it and paste the item as easy as it can be. Like other clipboard managers, Clip Angel is also free to download and use and staves off your everyday hassles.
Ditto
It is an amazing clipboard manager that is somehow regularly updated and comes with 64-bit support for free. What’s great about it is that anyone can get started with it easily and then slowly learn or play with the options and features later on. I would gladly pay a small fee in order to use it, but since it’s free,
I am even happier. It’s also one of those programs that look super simple on the outside but contains a huge number of features and options when you really dig deep into it. When downloading Ditto, you can choose between the standard 64-bit version and a portable one.
The latter runs from a USB stick and means you can carry around your clipboard manager and plug it into whatever computer you happen to be using. The program captures and stores text, images and web addresses, and you can set the number of items it stores (the default is 500), after which the oldest item will be deleted as you add new ones. Alternatively, you can mark individual clips as ‘Never Delete’ and they’ll always stay in the Ditto database.
You can also have Ditto sit on top of other programs and keep it rolled up next to the menu bar to save space on small screens. The amount of storage space for your clippings is similar to Save.Me, and it works better with large clip collections than Shapeshifter.
Save.Me
Save.Me’s window takes up more space than Ditto’s, but is better suited to storing photos and website URLs, because it previews them live and in full. It seamlessly and automatically saves everything. Whatever you use- any text, emails, files and folders, URLs, graphics, everything would be saved. That way, you wouldn’t have to worry about losing them. Also, it would allow you to organize all these.
Save.Me comes as a single executable file, so you don’t need to install it on your PC. Like the other clipboard managers here, it can clip text, graphics, and web addresses, and you can also create new text snippets and save them for later. Save. Its interface is better looking than Ditto’s and it has a good Default View, which lists commands on the left, clips in the middle and a preview of the currently selected clip on the right
Save.Me also has a unique Logbook View, which organizes clips by date, as well as a useful Research View with customizable columns displaying headings such as Topic, Date, Content and more. Like Ditto, it stores clips even after you turn off your PC.
Shapeshifter
First, you have to choose your mode. I would go ahead and choose Mixed mode, which basically is a combo of Integrated mode and External mode. Basically, you can manage the clipboard using CTRL + V or using the taskbar icon in Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Shape shifter’s clean interface is edgier than the others and although that’s due in part to having fewer features, it’s noticeably more refreshing than its staid rivals.
Like the other clipboard managers in this round-up, it uses the same Copy and Paste commands as Windows but holding down Ctrl+V displays its main window in Integrated Mode, so you can select the item you want to paste. Shapeshifter is the easiest of our top picks to master because there are so few options and its use of large thumbnails makes it well suited to working with graphics.
We would have liked Shapeshifter to provide a better explanation of how the three different modes work and the advantages of each, rather than having to work it out for ourselves. In Integrated Mode, you can’t open the viewer and close it again if you don’t paste.
Phrase Express
I am even happier. It’s also one of those programs that look super simple on the outside but contains a huge number of features and options when you really dig into it. The best part about this software is that it saves all your data so that you wouldn’t have to worry about misplacing them and also, it organizes your data so that you can find it easily when you need it.
This is another clipboard management feature that functions best when used in Windows. If you have to cut, copy and paste one item at a time, you could do this easily and at a greater speed with the help of this clipboard manager software. It wouldn’t take the place of the Windows clipboard but would work alongside. It is trusted software that has been tried and tested numerous times so that you wouldn’t have to think twice about downloading it.
M8 Clipboard
If you’re looking for top-rated free clipboard manager software, then this should be the first software application on your list. It is a free multi clipboard which allows you to carry out a number of functions. It would not only save all your data but also help you manage them efficiently.
For Windows users, you have a wide range of choices when it comes to your clipboard organizers. Now, if you really want the best clipboard manager for your Windows device, you could take the help of M8 Clipboards. This is a simple and easy to use software application that can make copying and pasting texts, graphics and even images much easier for you.
Although there’s no support for any other data types, the program is neat, effective and fun to use. However, if all you want is access to a simple pop-up list of recently clipped items (text, URLs, and images) that you can access via a hotkey and paste into an open application, it’s definitely worth a look. You can also choose the number of items stored in the clipboard at any one time. If you work with copy and paste on a regular basis, you would be copying lines of text on a daily basis. If you fail to organize it, it would end up getting cluttered and could even crash. Before the worst case scenario actually materializes, you should take precautions to prevent it.
