Texas Governor Rick Perry currently polls third in the race for the Republican nomination. He holds the third spot without entering the race and is expected to announce a decision next month on whether he will be a candidate in the 2012 Presidential election.
The Big Easy is still recovering from the ills of the greatest natural disaster it has ever faced. The challenges of recovery include not only scarcity of resources but also an inability to reconcile the realities of race and class in the struggle to rebuildNew Orleans spiritually as well as physically. Among the issues with which the city grapples is that of resolving outstanding criminal activities that occurred in the wake of this great tragedy.
Public opinion and personal prejudice are often the moving factors in the perception of guilt of individuals accused of crimes. America’s 5th, 6th and 14th amendments provide for the principle “innocent until proven guilty” though the United States Constitution does not cite one’s “presumption of innocence”.
Rap has the juice needed to awaken the sleeping giant to address many of the most important questions about our status in America such as why African Americans are incarcerated at rates unlike any other race and why we are the most negatively impacted by all the ills of America from unemployment to aids.
Currently hanging in there for the Republican nomination is Herman Cain at 6%. Though he recently won the straw poll at the Conservative Leadership Conference, his popularity among Republicans is diminishing and without them there can be no GOP nominee Cain.
If Americaworks then it can pay off its debt. WhenAmericadoes not work it can not pay debt. What is so difficult to understand about that? Say “More Jobs” when House Republicans say “Less Debt”. Say it louder.
The Mississippi Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (MBC-LEO) held its annual conference in Biloxi, Mississippi at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino. Over 100 local elected officials from Mississippi cities and towns attended the organization’s 2011 annual conference.
