“I’ve served in Congress for 52 years and it’s hard for me to recall a time when we’ve voted on something so obviously and intentionally harmful to seniors and working people in this country,” said John Conyers (D-MI), 87, on the House floor today.

“You will have the provisions in this bill tattooed on your forehead. You will glow in the dark on this one,” said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) after Conyers spoke.

“This legislation strips healthcare from 24 million people. It requires seniors to pay 100% or more of their income in premiums. This legislation dramatically cuts Medicaid, directly contradicting Mr. Trump’s claim not to,” Conyers continued.

Meanwhile Rep. John Faso (R-NY), who had a loud townhall filled with people who wanted Obamacare to be improved and not repealed, had an endless number of comments on his official facebook page.  See here: https://faso.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=300

There are signs that even with 550 days before midterm elections Republicans may be in trouble.  There will be three elections that will provide major hints:

  1. The Governor’s race in Virginia. The primary is June 13
  2. The Jon Ossoff race for Price’s seat in Georgia.

Price’s seat is lean Republican. But regardless of demographics, the outcome should indicate what chances Democrats will have in 550 days.
