#JordanEdwards Killing Shows All the Signs of a Huge Mistake by Police

The story of the police shooting og Jordan Edwards has all the signs of trouble for a local police department in Texas:

  1. The story as originally told completely changed 24 hours later
  2. The police officer who shot and killed Edwards has been fired.
  3. There is body camera footage the police chief says he has seen but it hasn’t been released publicly and there would appear to be no plan to.

Sound familiar?

A member of the police department in Balch Springs, Texas Jordan Edwards as a car he was in the passenger seat in was said to be moving away from the scene of a house party.  Edwards, 15, was reportedly shot with a AR-15 rifle. The shooting took place on the night of Saturday, April 29.

“The officer, Roy Oliver, “violated several departmental policies,” police told reporters without offering details because the officer has a right to appeal,” read a report in CNN on May 2.

It’s likely that the Edwards case will become a national story.  The family has asked that protests be held off until after Edwards’ funeral.
