Led by North Carolina State Chapter President Dr. William Barber, the state chapter of the NC NAACP is calling for an economic boycott of North Carolina.

Plagued by a state Republicans elected in rigged districts that have been declared unconstitutional, the NC NAACP is using every tool in the activist playbook on lawmakers in a state that has fallen outside the definition of “democracy.”

After the Republican controlled North Carolina state legislature gutted the power of the newly elected Democratic Governor Roy Cooper on December 15, in effect nullifying the decision of voters on November 8, the NAACP chapter redoubled the pressure on lawmakers in the state continuing a powerful brand of fusion politics that many state parties could learn from.

The push by the North Carolina NAACP for an economic boycott is another example of their willingness to “go big” and bring attention to political issues with constant activism. Below is a video of Dr. William Barber explaining the political and racial history of North Carolina.
