Yesterday, House Democrats voted overwhelmingly to change the way the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair is selected. A motion was made to allow House Democrats to select a Chair of the DCCC rather than House Minority Leader singularly hand picking the Chair. The current Chair is Rep. Ben Ray Lujan.
Over the last six years Democrats have lost over sixty seats in the House. There are several reasons for this but one reason is the lack of strategy emerging from the DCCC. Even though there has been record fundraising that has eclipsed GOP numbers over the last two cycles, Democrats continue to either lose or win way fewer seats than what was expected.
Several House members will be in the running to be elected Chair by their colleagues.
