Hurricane Matthew: FL Gov. Won’t Extend Voter Registration Deadline

According to Miami Herald Tallahassee Bureau Chief Mary Ellen Klas, Florida Governor Rick Scott says he ‘will not extend’ the voter registration deadline. “Everybody has had a lot of time to register,” said the Governor.

Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 hurricane, is set to hit Florida on Friday. Republican Governor across the U.S. have seized on new voting laws that have put up hurdles in front of the voting booth.

In Haiti, hurricane Matthew was the worst natural disaster to hit the country since the massive 2010 earthquake.  The hurricane has left at least 283 dead and Haiti’s presidential elections set for Sunday have been cancelled.
