Supremacy Games: Trump Continues to Try To Delegitimize First Black President

Birther king Donald Trump just won’t let it go. His obsessive focus on the baseless issue regarding whether President Obama was born in Hawaii or not is unending. Trump became a celeb within GOP circles with the false claim that the first Black President was born some place other than the U.S.  The Republican nominee continues to avoid admitting that he was wrong on the issue years ago, even though his surrogates and staff are on national TV saying the opposite.
Now this week we have Trump refusing to declare whether or not Obama is a citizen.  Last night his campaign issues a statement posted on their website that explores the issue again and contains the false claim that Hillary Clinton’s campaign started the birther claims.  But what Trump is really after is the so-called “base voter” in the GOP who has seethed that President Obama has been in charge of the country for eight years. This dance for the ever-obsessed-about race “base” in the GOP knows no bounds.  The strategy is likely to result in the lowest African American vote support for the GOP in recent memory.
Trump’s full statement is below:
– SEPTEMBER 15, 2016 –

Hillary Clinton’s campaign first raised this issue to smear then-candidate Barack Obama in her very nasty, failed 2008 campaign for President. This type of vicious and conniving behavior is straight from the Clinton Playbook. As usual, however, Hillary Clinton was too weak to get an answer. Even the MSNBC show Morning Joe admits that it was Clinton’s henchmen who first raised this issue, not Donald J. Trump.

In 2011, Mr. Trump was finally able to bring this ugly incident to its conclusion by successfully compelling President Obama to release his birth certificate. Mr. Trump did a great service to the President and the country by bringing closure to the issue that Hillary Clinton and her team first raised. Inarguably, Donald J. Trump is a closer. Having successfully obtained President Obama’s birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States.

Mr. Trump is now totally focused on bringing jobs back to America, defeating radical Islamic terrorism, taking care of our veterans, introducing school choice opportunities and rebuilding and making our inner cities safe again.” – Jason Miller, Senior Communications Advisor
