A poll from the Public Religion Research Institute and The Atlantic that came out last week showed Latino Democrats evenly split over their support for Senator Bernie Sanders and Secretary Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race. 48 percent of Latino Democrats support Sanders, and 47 percent of Latino Democrats support Clinton. This poll suggests that Sanders is making gains with Latino Democrats. In February, an NBC/Wall Street Journal/Telemundo poll showed that Clinton was leading Sanders in Latino support at 56 percent to 39 percent. These numbers indicate that Latinos in New York and in California will be poised to make a difference in the race for the Democratic nomination.
