Three of Ben Carson’s Aides Suddenly Quit His Campaign

Today three top aides to the presidential campaign of Dr. Ben Carson suddenly quit.

Barry Bennett, Carson’s campaign manager, and Doug Watts, Carson’s chief spokesman, suddenly resigned.  Carson has recently dropped in the polls as Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio have risen.  In a year of outsiders, Carson was leading the pack in the many polls only to fall back in recent months.  The Des moines Register is also reporting that Deputy Campaign Manager Lisa Coen has also resigned.

Many point to Carson’s lack of knowledge on foreign policy at a time when terrorism is in the news as a leading reason for his problems in recent months.  There was even more controversy after rumors hit that major parts of Carson’s life story were false.

In a statement reported on in the Des Moines Register, Watts said, “Barry Bennett and I have resigned from the Carson campaign effective immediately. We respect the candidate and we have enjoyed helping him go from far back in the field to top tier status. Having just announced raising $23 million for the fourth quarter, more than any other Republican candidate, and passing one million contributions and and over 600,000 unique donors. Since March, we are proud of our efforts for Dr. Carson and we wish him and his campaign the best of luck.”

Currently businessman Donald Trump is leading the Republican field according to polls.
