Comedian Dave Chappelle, 42, has announced a surprise run of 12 shows at Thalia Hall in Chicago. Chappelle will perform twice a day from December 1–6, 2015. Tickets will be $67 and will go on sale on November 28 via Live Nation.
The legendary comedian left the David Chappelle’s Show in 2005 and would go on a ten year long hiatus with very few performances, though in June 2014 he performed for 10 nights at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Comedy Central ranked Chappelle at No. 43 on their lost of the “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.”
In June 2004, Chappelle told in audience in California that stand-up was “the most important thing” to him.
Chappelle appears in the new Spike Lee movie Chi-Raq, which will be in theaters on December 4. Chappelle was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Silver Spring, Md. He is a graduate of Washington’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
