In 2009 Walker’s Legacy – named as an homage to Madam C. J. Walker – was founded as an entrepreneurial association for women of color across America. Today, the national collective aimed at uplifting women in business, is partnering with Accelerate with Google to host an impactful brunch during Essence Music Festival Weekend. Walker’s Legacy is on a mission to increase the number of women entrepreneurs of color by improving access to key resources.
“African-American and Hispanic women are making great strides in entrepreneurship throughout the country, our goal for this annual awards brunch is to bring greater attention to our role as business owners and economic contributors to the U.S.” stated Natalie Madeira Cofield, Founder, Walker’s Legacy.
This brunch and awards program is another step in their journey to make this mission a reality. Attendees will join the Walker’s Legacy network and become active participants in their movement to solve problems facing women of color in business. Each attendee will join six other women and a mentor and will have an hour to produce an idea that solves a problem for women entrepreneurs. Complimentary beauty products will be provided from partner, LAMIK Beauty.
