Activist removes Confederate flag in front of South Carolina capitol building

A 30 year old artist and activist, Bree Newsome, climbed the flagpole in front of the South Carolina capitol building this morning and took down the Confederate flag.

According to the Guardian, Bree Newsome, a 30 year old from Charlotte, North Carolina, had climbed halfway up the pole when police demanded that she come down. She continued climbing.

With the flag in her hand, as she started her climb down the pole, Newsome said, “You come against me in the name of hatred, repression, and violence. I come against you in the name of God. This flag comes down today.”

Newsome told the police who were waiting for her at the bottom of the pole, “I’m prepared to be arrested.”

  1. We have bigger fish to fry…..The confederate flag is only distraction. Our currency is about to change completely, and we are heading for more trouble…..Its so bad in Greece, people are moving back with their parents. The number of people too broke to afford their own place has ballooned since 2010, when The Mediterranean Nation’s economic woes began….The share of Momma’s Boys and Girls between the ages of 18 and 34 has grown to 63.5% according to Eurostat, The European Union’s Statistics Agency….More than half of those between 25 and 34 live at home…..Desperate Times: Greeks moving back in with their parents….The only country that can hold a torch to Greece is Italy, where it’s a cliche’ how much kids love their Mothers…..Yet the reason why so many Adult Children live with their parents is hard economic facts: Two factors are critical:[zero job prospects] Greece’s Youth Unemployment Numbers, where more than half of people under 25 are out of work…..Many of them settle for free home-cooked meals and their childhood rooms….Youth Unemployment in Greece is second only to Spain. People in Greece aren’t making babies, raising a family is expensive, that means that the population just keeps getting older, which leaves a shrinking workforce bearing the brunt of higher pension cost as more people retire….For now, the parents are sustaining their Adult Children, but pretty soon its going to be the other way around. And for what? Europe needs an extension before the euro areas bailout expires on June 30th, or risk missing payments on its debt of about 313 billion euros[$352 billion]…..The problem is our own currency is tied to the euro. So we must be concern with this issue, instead of an offensive confederate flag. Besides our serious race problems in North America.
