National of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan spoke yesterday at Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, D.C. to announce the 20th anniversary plans around the Million Man March. Joining him at the announcement was Rev. Jamal Bryant and former National Action Network Executive Director Tamika Mallory.
Farrakhan delivered a hot sermon, the type of which he is well known for, right after Rev. Bryant delivered a stem winder on politics, the Charleston massacre and what Blacks need to focus on as events move forward.
The events marking the 20th anniversary of Farrakhan’s Million Man March, will include lobbying members of Congress.
Farrakhan also mentioned the controversy over the Confederate flag in the wake of the murders of nine people at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC by white supremacist Dylann Roof. Large business, such as Amazon, eBay and Sears, are now saying they will pull all of their Confederate flag merchandise.
“I don’t know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down. Because we’ve caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag. Who are we fighting today? It’s the people that carry the American flag,” Farrakhan said.
“That snake walked into one of our churches, and you know how we are,” Farrakhan said to the large crowd at Metropolitan AME
