With one tweet, Mitt Romney made sure the Republican field will have to answer the “flag question” over the next few days.
“Many see the Confederate flag as a symbol of racial hatred,” Romney tweeted yesterday. “Remove it now to honor #Charleston victims.”
Romney joined President Barack Obama and many other calling for the flag to be taken down. South Carolina started flying the flag over the statehouse in 1961 as a protest to school desegregation in the years after the Brown v. Board Supreme Court decision.
