Local VA Officials to Host 3 Health Care Enrollfest Events Before Deadline

#ENROLLFEST. With only two days to the deadline and 6 million signed up, Rep. Bobby Scott and a group of local elected officials hosted a well attended enrollfest event today in Petersburg, Va.  The event is one of four in Virginia this weekend and on Monday — the last day for enrollment until October.

Virginia House Delegate Roselyn Dance, Petersburg Mayor Brian Moore, Hopewell Vice Mayor Jasmine Gore and enrollfest organizer Gaylene Kanoyton were on hand along with many constituents from Petersburg and the surrounding area, to to enroll at healthcare.gov. Today’s event is at Zion Baptist Church in Petersburg.

There will be an enrollfest event on Sunday in Hampton and two on Monday in Hampton and Norfolk.

President Obama announced on Thursday that over 6 million people had enrolled in the federal and state health exchanges. Another large jump in enrollment is expected with only 72 hours left to sign up. 

At the start of the process, over 44 million Americans were without health insurance.
