What Makes This Person a Game Changer: Born and raised in Greenville, SC, Quentin James is a senior Afro-American Studies major at Howard University in Washington, DC. In 2006, Quentin was featured as one of Ebony Magazine’s Top High School Seniors in America. In South Carolina, Quentin served as the President of the Greenville NAACP Youth Council, Founding President of the Furman University Chapter of the NAACP, as well as the President of the South Carolina Youth & College Division of the NAACP. In 2008, Quentin took a leave of absence from school to work on the Obama Campaign. Quentin served as the Deputy Youth Vote Director in Ohio, organizing over 315,000 students at 32 colleges and universities. At The Ohio State University, the nation’s largest university, voter turnout nearly doubled from the 2004 Presidential Election, increasing 94%. After the campaign, Quentin moved to Washington, DC, and began working for Congresswoman Carolyn C. Kilpatrick of the 13th Congressional District of Michigan. In February 2010, Quentin became one of the youngest members of the NAACP National Board of Directors. He is currently the Washington, DC Managing Director of Elite Change, LLC, a Houston-based public affairs firm.
