Chicago: First Lady Michelle Obama to Attend Pendleton Funeral

hadiya1

First lady Michelle Obama will to Chicago for the funeral of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton.  Pendleton was shot and killed ten days after marching in the inaugural parade in Washington DC.  The killer still has not been found. Pendleton was fatally shot less than a mile from the home of President Obamas in the Kenwood section of the city.

Already this year over 40 people have been murdered in Chicago.  Over 520 were murdered in the city in 2012.  This week, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., asked President to “come home” and focus a spotlight on the crisis of violence in Chicago.

Also attending the funeral will be Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.
