RNC Re-Elects Reince Priebus, More White People Mourn

After a disastrous election cycle in which the GOP lost the presidential election, thus spawning the creation of the website ‘White People Mourn’, the Republican National Committee has decided yet again Reince Priebus is qualified to lead the party for another two years.

The 40-year-old RNC chairman ran unopposed in his bid for a second term and voted overwhelmingly Friday to re-elect Priebus at their annual winter meeting in Charlotte, N.C.

Maine national committeeman Mark Willis tried to challenge Priebus but could not muster the backing of three states needed to qualify for the ballot. All but two of the Republican National Committee’s 168 members – both from Maine – voted to reelect the chairman.

As the news broke today the Internet was set ablaze with chatter as Republicans and Democrats alike finally agree on one thing: Why on earth was this guy re-elected?

Another question worth asking is, ‘why was Michael Steele shown the door after 2010?’

Yet, despite the heavy losses in November and round after round of the blame game post-election, Priebus remains optimistic – as only an out of touch Republican can be:

“The task before us is transforming the party – to be a force from coast to coast,” Priebus said Friday in his acceptance speech. “We want to be Republicans for everybody. We have to take our message of opportunity where it’s not being heard. We have to build better relationships in minority communities, urban centers and college towns. We need a permanent growing presence.”

We’ve all heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The Republican National Committee is therefore insane. Not only did the party lose the presidency under his leadership, but they also gave up seats in the House and Senate. It’s not clear what the party hopes to gain by entrusting its future to the same failed leadership.
