GE to Purchase 2,000 Hybrids From Ford


GE announced that as part of an effort to convert half of its global fleet to alternative fuels, the technology solutions company will purchase 2,000 Ford C-Max Energi hybrid vehicles. The Ford C-Max Energi is billed as a fuel efficient plug-in hybrid with an EPA estimated 108 miles per gallon equivalent city rating and a 100 mile per gallon equivalent combined rating. In addition, Ford claims that the The C-Max Energi can go 620 miles on a single tank.

GE has a goal of having 25,000 vehicles that operate on alternative fuels in its global fleet. The purchase of 2,000 C-Max Energi hybrids puts GE’s alternative fuel fleet at 5,000.

Mark Vachon, vice president of ecomagination at GE, says, “At GE, we are focused on providing our customers and our fleet with more economically and environmentally efficient vehicles. The Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid is a great addition to our expanding fleet of alternative fuel vehicles.”
