Last night the Obama campaign issued the following press release from their Chicago headquarters:
“Update on President Obama’s Campaign Events in Virginia and Colorado. Due to Hurricane Sandy, President Obama’s campaign events in Prince William County, Virginia on Monday and in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Tuesday have been cancelled. As the White House announced earlier this evening, the President is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm. Additional changes to the President’s schedule will be announced as warranted.”
Gov. Mitt Romney cancelled events in Virginia but will instead make a trip to Ohio.
After at least 65 deaths were reported in Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The storm is expected to effect the weather in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.
