What Makes The Person A Game Changer:  Rose McKinney-James is the managing principal of Energy Works Consulting and McKinney-James & Associates. She is also one of the nation’s foremost experts on solar energy in the United States. She consults with Barrick on energy issues and sat on President Obama’s energy transition team. She also serves on the board of directors for MGM Resorts International, Employers Insurance Group, and Toyota. Rose also serves on the Advisory Council for Women of Diversity. She was the first chair of the Nevada Renewable Energy and Conservative Task Force and was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 1998, becoming the first African American to win a Nevada statewide primary election. Throughout her career, she received numerous awards, including the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year” the Women of Achievement Award from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.
