NBC News reports that Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) was visited at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota by former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI). The story featured the first images of Jackson since he took a leave of absence from Congress. The meeting was described as “emotional.”
Jackson was recently diagnosed with a bipolar disorder. “He’s worried about his political future,” Kennedy said adding “I tried to emphasize there is a future,” Kennedy told NBC News.
Kennedy said in the report it was clear Jackson was “dealing with a deep depression.”
Rep. Jackson took a leave from Congress in June.
