Former Alabama House member and Democrat Artur Davis, who supported President Obama in 2008, will speak at the Republican Convention in Tampa in two weeks.
Davis, 44, was in the U.S. House from 2003 to 2011. He ran for Governor of Alabama in an effort to become the first Black Governor of the state in 2010. He lost by a large margin, 62 to 37 percent in a primary to Ron Sparks, a liberal Democrat.
Davis has been reportedly thinking of running for the House in Virginia.
