Heather McTeer Takes a Swing at Bennie Thompson

Politic365 Managing Editor Charles D. Ellison talks with Heather McTeer, a Congressional candidate for Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District who will be running against incumbent Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) in a primary on March 13th.  McTeer, a former Mayor of Greenville, MS, has her eyes set on taking Thompson out in 2012.  More information can be found at http://heathermcteer.com.

“When I first decided to run, after looking around the Mississippi Delta, I decided I couldn’t sit and be complacent,” says McTeer. “The district has been falling behind going on for the past 20 years now.”

“I found that a lot of people agreed that we’ve got to do something different.  It’s truly time to think differently – but to realize that for us to continue doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result is the essence of insanity.”

Of Thompson, McTeer has pointed words: “Even though we have leadership that has apparent power in Washington, that has not translated down to the people of the 2nd Congressional district.”
