Diddy Jr. Goes to UCLA

Add sports dad to Sean Combs’ long list of titles.

The music and fashion mogul’s son, Justin Combs, the 132nd rated cornerback in the country (according to Scout.com), verbally committed to a football scholarship with University of California Los Angeles yesterday.  Justin, who had a chain of restaurants owned by his father named after him in the late 90s, chose the Bruins over Virginia, Wyoming, and Illinois.  What’s in a name, right?

Diddy called Justin’s commitment to UCLA, “one of the proudest moments of my life.”  In a statement, Combs added, “This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about.  Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve.  I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.”

It’s interesting that Justin would sign with UCLA – a day after head coach Rick Neuheisel, the man whose staff recruited Combs, was fired.  Is there a Romeo Miller/ University of Southern California situation going on here?  Master P’s son, Romeo, signed with USC as a package deal for Demar Derozan, who eventually went #9 in the 2009 NBA Draft.  No word if there are any other college prospects on the Iona Prep football team with offers to Division 1 schools.

Can’t wait to see what kind of car Justin will be driving around Los Angeles once he settles on the West Coast.  At least now “Puff” doesn’t have to worry about the rising costs of tuition for an out-of-state student.

Big Deal! He'll ride the bench and will eventually will get cut from the team like Romeo.

No way they are cutting that big publicity. Maybe he will even get some playing time on the field!
