Today, the Obama family plays host to the 2010 White House Easter Egg Roll. The theme is “Ready, Set, Go,” which ties into the first lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative to combat childhood obesity and inactivity.
The Easter Monday event will have the crowd of kids and grownups moving with music by teen pop singer, Justin Bieber, the cast of the hit TV show, “Glee,” casts of “Sesame Street” and “Yo Gabba Gabba.” Celebrity guests in attendance are Reese Witherspoon, author J. K. Rowling, Apolo Ohno and members of the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins.
The White House Easter Egg Roll dates back to 1878 and takes place on the South Lawn of the White House. It is considered the biggest event held at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with a day’s worth of activities starting at 7:45 in the morning and ending at 5:45 p.m.
White House Easter Egg Roll tickets were distributed through an online lottery system.
And souvenir eggs can be purchased online at the National Park Foundation.
